Dear Bethel-Tate Schools Families and Communities,
We are writing to share an important update regarding the district’s long-term financial planning. During a special meeting Feb. 2, the Bethel-Tate Board of Education unanimously voted to move forward with placing an operating levy on the May 5, 2026 ballot. This levy is designed to generate approximately $1,510,000 each year for five years to support the district’s general operating budget and the day-to-day costs of maintaining school programs and services.
We truly appreciate the continued support of our Bethel-Tate community. The levy passed in 2021 has provided about $1.51 million each year to support day-to-day operations and keep programs in place for students. With the current levy ending after the 2025 tax year and final collections occurring in 2026, the Board believes it is important to take steps now to replace that funding and maintain stability for our schools.
As many of you know, school districts across Ohio continue to face financial pressures as costs rise while revenue remains limited. Bethel-Tate’s financial challenges are driven by a combination of factors including the cyclical nature of operating levies, declining student enrollment that impacts state funding, and increasing costs of providing services - especially in special education. These challenges require careful planning to ensure the district can continue meeting student needs. As a result of planning, the Board took cost-saving measures ahead of this current school year.
Decisions related to school funding affect our entire community and are not made lightly. The Board of Education remains committed to being responsible stewards of taxpayer dollars while continuing to provide strong academic programs and a safe learning environment for all students. The Superintendent and Treasurer continue to explore all available options to reduce district expenditures.
More information will be shared with our community in the coming weeks, and we appreciate your continued support of Bethel-Tate Schools.
With Tiger Pride,
Susan Ward, President
Bethel-Tate Schools Board of Education
