Head Coach Shane Mays Season Report:

The first two meets of our Cross Country season are in the books, and there is a lot to be excited about. From our season opener at Felicity to our second meet at Ripley, every one of our runners improved their time. Different course, different conditions, but seeing improvement across the entire team is something worth celebrating. More importantly, we’re starting to see the confidence, toughness, and willingness to compete that we’ve been working toward in practice.

We had some great individual performances at Ripley. Aaron Liming and Tristan Speigel both broke the 20-minute mark for our high school boys, while Makenzie Riddle, Annabel Reed, and Sarah Bolick all made big jumps from their opening meet. Our middle school runners had a strong day as well. Israel Payne ran 12:20.8 to finish 5th overall, while Leona Ache and Lyla Disbennett each took more than a minute off their times from Felicity.

What I’m most proud of, though, is how this group continues to show up and work. Cross Country has a way of testing you when things get uncomfortable, and we’re learning that progress comes from being willing to stay in that moment and keep going. We still have a lot of work ahead of us, but that’s the fun part. Keep showing up, keep putting in the work, and keep finding a way to get just a little bit better.
