What type of testing will my child be exposed to ?

During the first weeks of school, all Kindergarten students will be given a Kindergarten readiness test called the Kindergarten Diagnostic Instrument (KDI).  The test compares your child to all of the other kindergarten age children across the country who took the test.  Your child's results will be shared with you.  If you have any further questions or concerns, please contact the school.

Can I eat lunch with my child ?

Yes!!  Although, I do not recommend parents coming to school and seeing their child until mid October. All students need an opportunity to adjust to being away from their loved ones for the day.  Otherwise, students start to miss their parents and before you know it, everyone in the cafeteria is upset.  After this adjustment time has passed, I encourage classroom volunteers and lunch time visitors.

If you would like to come and eat lunch with your child, start by going to the office and signing in.  The secretary will give you a visitor badge and you can meet us in the hallway at the appropriate time.

My child's birthday is this week, can I send in a treat?

Yes, you can send in a birthday treat for your child to share with the class.  I strongly discourage cupcakes, but something like a cookie, miniature candy bar or pencil are great choices.  Please send me a note several days before, so I can check for conflicts and let you know how many students are in the class.  The treat can be brought in by your child from the bus or you can drop it off in the office during the morning hours.  The treat will be shared before going out for recess.
