If you were able to participate in our annual fundraiser by buying or selling cookie dough, thank you very much. This fundraiser supports the extra items and programs that make our school excellent. The cookie dough will arrive Tuesday afternoon, November 27. It is prepackaged according to student orders and is easy to distribute. Small orders of 2 or fewer tubs can be sent home with students on the bus. Parents should plan to pick up the larger orders between 3:30 and 7:00 that evening. The cookie dough should be refrigerated if it is not delivered that evening. It will keep for 2 months in the refrigerator and for 6 months in the freezer.

Please be observant of the school’s dismissal plan. If you need to make changes in transportation, please do so by noon. Changes made at the end of the day result in confusion for students and adults, and they pose the problem of possibly sending a child to the wrong location. The dismissal plan is as follows:
Dismissal Plan
Parents who wish to pick up students at the end of the day on a regular basis will need to notify the school by indicating this on the Dismissal Plan form. If a parent wishes to pick up a student who normally rides the bus, a note should be sent to school with that student. Any change in transportation must be made in writing and submitted to the office by 12:00 noon. At the end of the day parents must sign out their students using the sheets posted. The student’s academic day ends at 3:35 p.m. For safety reasons students are not permitted to walk to or home from school. Students will not be released to anyone other than parents unless written permission is granted by the parents.
Dress Code
Effective November 1, students are no longer permitted to wear shorts until the warm weather returns in the spring. Our students have outdoor recess and physical education as long as the weather permits. Please make sure your children wear jackets or coats as necessary to be able to be outside.
November Superintendent Update
By Jim Smith
Like all school districts, Bethel-Tate is dealing with the highly resistant MRSA (staph) issue. Every evening as each room is cleaned, our custodians are disinfecting surfaces commonly touched on a daily basis. This includes desktops, computer keyboards, pencil sharpeners, door knobs and panic bars, etc. They are especially focused on locker rooms and athletic areas. As of this point, we’ve had no reported cases. We are doing all we can to keep your child safe and healthy!
I would like to congratulate our girls’ soccer and tennis teams for outstanding fall seasons. Both had over ten wins and competed for the SBAAC championship. Both squads were young with many returnees, so prospects for the future look great.
The district Planning Commission is taking on five new projects this school year. They are: Homework, District Revenue, a new Anti-Bullying policy, Student Dress Code, and the Excellence Project. A committee has been formed of commission members to research each of the above topics and eventually report back to the overall commission and the board of education. The purpose of the Excellence Project is to cite examples of excellence in the district to let you the public know about all the great things happening in your school district. This will include everyone from our students, to staff, volunteers, etc. Commission members are Scott Hobart, President, Bill Bick, Dave Brannock, Carrie Davin, Ralph and Dawn Herbolt, Mary Jo Miller, Harold Mondy, Patricia Pryor, Jennifer Shinkle, Brian Woodward, Jenny Schickley, Melissa Delaney, David Baker, and Patty Foster. Student members are Chris Beyer and Tammy Guseman, seniors and Ryan Downey, Junior. The commission meets on the fourth Monday of each month at 7:00 in the high school library.
