Once again the students perform outstandingly

The OAA test results are in and the district and middle school did outstanding. We have some of the best scores in SW Ohio if not the state. It never ceases to amaze me how great a job the students and staff at Bethel-Tate Schools do year after year.

Congratulations to the BTMS staff, the students, and their families for a job well done. Bottom line is that we as middle school staff have the goal and responsibility to prepare every student to be successful at the high school level and I believe we are doing just that, great job everyone.

Open house 2011

The annual BTMS open house for parents and students will be held Thursday August 18th, 2011. The evening will begin with the 6th grade at 6:30pm. 6th grade students should arrive a little early to pick up their schedule. We will then have cookies for the 6th grade students and their families during a brief presentation in the gym. Then at 7:00pm the 6th grade students and their parents will be released to visit their classrooms and speak with their teachers. The 7th and 8th grade open house begins at 7:15pm and is a walk-in format lasting until 8:15pm.  We will also be accepting payment of school fees that evening and pre-pay on the students lunch accounts. Lunches this year will be $2.35.

7th grade immunization requirements

Schools will have immunization requirements for the 2011-2012 school year from the Ohio Department of Health.  This requirement will be as follows:

  • The addition of a Tdap or Td booster requirement for 7th grade

The incoming 7th graders for next year will be required to have a Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis) or Td (tetanus and diphtheria) booster.  Most children entering 7th grade in Ohio have not yet received the Tdap or Td booster.  Of the two, Tdap is preferred because it provides vital protection against pertussis (also known as whooping cough).  Please contact your child’s physician to see if they have had the required vaccination.  All current 6th grade students need to get the Tdap or Td booster by the start of next school year.  If they are not compliant by the 15th day of school, they will be excluded from school until providing proof of compliance.  After receiving the required Tdap or Td booster, please provide a copy of their immunization record to Bethel Tate Middle School.  Please direct all questions to Tina Sicurella R.N., B.S.N. at 513-734-2271   (ext. 4053).  Thank you for your time and understanding.

If Bethel-Tate Middle School does not receive documentation that your child has had the required Tdap or Td booster immunization by September 9, 2011, your child will be excluded from school starting on September 12, 2011 and remain excluded until proof of compliance and documentation is received.  These absences will not be excused.

Welcome back to another exciting year of learning! We are very excited to see the new sixth grade class and welcome back our 7th and 8th grade upper classman. We do have one new staff member, Elizabeth Dunigan . She will be working out of the office area one day a week as the speech teacher.

The teachers and staff at Bethel-Tate Middle School once again are proud to announce that we are state rated “excellent with distinction”. This rating shows how hard the teachers, students, and support staff, worked as a learning family. Along with the outstanding support of our parents BTMS achieved this distinction for the second year in a row.

The 2011-2012 school year has gotten off to a great start. Students adjusted to the new grade level very quickly and after just 14 days of school it seems like we are mid- year form. I am excited to see how many students we have getting involved in the music fields. Both the band and chorus numbers are up from last year. The athletic teams are also off to a great start.

I hope that every one of you has a great school year. We are here to help make that happen so please feel free to contact any staff member via e-mail or phone.
